The large and rapid shifts in technology place new skills requirements on employees in industry and production chains become more knowledge-intensive. Companies must develop the skills of employees in order to maintain their competitiveness.

- Many people are laid off or in transition and now is an excellent opportunity to emerge stronger from the crisis. Climate change and digitalisation of the business sector will be accelerated in the wake of the crisis and skills development will be crucial for developing our competitiveness, replenishing skills and taking on new jobs that are emerging, says Minister of Trade and Industry Ibrahim Baylan.

The learning portal offers industrial companies free digital training within the framework of the project. The portal provides a wide range of quality-assured educations that meet the labor market's skills needs and also serves as a forum for collegial exchange. The training on the learning portal is based on identified competence needs in areas such as 3D printing, 5G connection in production, human-robot collaboration and computer science. Behind the educations are, among others, Production 2030, the Polytechnic and Swedish and foreign universities.

- These are high-quality educations that have the potential to make a difference in the wake of the corona pandemic. Several heavy educators and higher education institutions are behind the initiative, says Klas Wåhlberg, CEO of Teknikföretagen.

The fact that everything is gathered on one platform makes it easier for companies to find training from many different suppliers in one place. Companies can also get help to adapt their skills development to the needs of the company and its employees.

- The good thing is that the educations are flexible and can be adapted. Company employees can choose to study individual modules or entire courses. Depending on time and need. It is a way to get started quickly with competence development and our hope is to be able to offer this to more industries in the future, says Gunilla Nordlöf, Director General of the Swedish Agency for Economic and Regional Growth.
